It Is Forbidden To Go Around Gossiping About People
Divine Code for December 28, 2022
Today: Pages 383-384
Part 8:2 -- 8:6
It is forbidden to go around gossiping about people, and this is described as tale-bearing - collecting information and then going from one person to another, saying ''This is what so and so said,'' or ''I heard such and such about so and so,'' or ''So and so said such and such about you,'' or Such and such was done to you by so and so,'' etc. Even though these words may be true, this type of behavior destroys the world, for doing so has the ability to cause death and murder. We can learn this from the story of Doeg the Edomite, who informed King Saul that the Jewish priests in the town of Nov had helped David. Saul was angered and killed all these priests (for which Doeg was cursed by David and died by the hand of G-d halfway through his natural life).
