Can a Jewish Child Predict the Future?
Divine Code for September 24, 2022
Today: Page 194
Topic 11:7 -- 11:11
Practices of divination are prohibited, by any means.
Contact with a "deceiving interpreter" or a witch is forbidden. They deceive people with their lies and lead their listeners to idolatry.
It is forbidden to utter incantations, that is, to utter foolish, abnormal words that have no purpose.
The opinion of the Ramban is that Astrology is not forbidden for Noachids. One may use it to see if an action will be successful or not. This is taught from Deuteronomy 18:9. The Talmud - Tract Nedarim 32) teaches that Abram - before he became Abraham - was an expert in astrology.
But - my personal opinion - is that pious Noahids should not concern themselves with this. The basis of our faith is that G-d is One and that there are no powers or forces outside or beyond Him. We do not turn to the stars when we want to know something or need help, but to the Eternal One, blessed be He.
It is permissible to ask a (Jewish) child who is learning from the Hebrew Scriptures to recite a verse of their choice and to act upon this verse. This can be considered a light form of prophecy.
