There is an interesting thing to note about creation of the the world in six days:
The first three days and the last three days mirror each other.
On the first day of creation, G'd created darkness and light.
On the fourth day, G'd created the stars, the sun, and the moon, to be the bearers of the light that was created on the first day.
On the second day, G'd created a separation between the higher waters (the sky, heaven), and the lower waters (the seas and oceans).
On the fifth day, G'd created birds and sea life to populate the higher waters (the sky), and the lower waters (the seas and oceans).
On the third day, G'd created plant life to sprout.
On the sixth day, G'd created land animals and the first two human beings, Adam and Chava (Eve), to cultivate the earth and nourish themselves from the plant life that was created on the third day.
An important question to answer is what was created first. A simple interpretation of the text might lead one to think it could be light or darkness, or perhaps heaven and earth, or the higher waters and the lower waters. Some people say it was time. I speculate it was actually Nothingness.
G'd Himself is Eternal, He was not created, He was, and is, and will always be there.
But before one can create something, one needs to start with Nothingness, which cannot simply be the absence of something, since G'd was, is, and will always be there.
Understanding the essence of nothingness can also allow one to get a better understanding of G'd's oneness, and answer the age old question of why G'd can't create a stone that He Himself cannot carry.
The answer is that the question is invalid and does not respect the parameters of reality. The stone is simply a part of G'd and cannot exist without G'd.
Also, of course, as a human being I cannot even begin to grasp even a minute bit of G'd's way of directing the world, but I would also speculate that G'd Himself does not know what a reality without Him would look like. He can probably create a sub-reality to simulate this kind of situation but as far as I can perceive He never swapped Thrones, and I would also urge Him to remain settled on His Throne.
